A I R@

The health and cleanliness of our air is vital.
Can you imagine Earth without air?
AIR, freedom, happiness, LOVE, fun, nature, LIVE..

“Take a course in good water and air;
and in the eternal youth of Nature you may renew your own.
Go quietly, alone; no harm will befall you”.

Visiting the “Botanic Garden” in San Francisco is one of the most rewarding experiences even. Its 55 acres include over 8,000 different kinds of plants from around the world.

Unique micro-climate, San Francisco Botanical Garden is able to recreate conditions of the high elevation tropical cloud forests of Central and South America and Southeast Asia.

The Bowthorpe Oak is a massively thick, millennium-old tree in Lincolnshire, England that once was rumored to hold three dozen people in its enormous, hollowed-out trunk. Beth Moon photographed the leafy giant some 15 years ago and was struck by its solemn nobility and overwhelming presence. Thus began a pilgrimage that would take her around the world to document the planet’s most ancient trees.

From Mexico to Madagascar, she came to find that trees so grand often have wonderful stories to tell—the massive trunk of the Major Oak where Robin Hood’s gang allegedly hid out; the gnarled, gothically dense Wittinghame Yew where a Scottish noble’s murder was planned in 1567; South Africa’s Sagole Big Tree where anti-apartheid fighters found shelter in the 1970s. “Everyone has a favorite tree story, and I just love to hear them,” said Moon.

2014 In ReViEw

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 6,600 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 6 trips to carry that many people.

Click here to see the complete report.

loveforpemaToday I read something from Pema, here is:

A big , burly samurai comes to a Zen master and says, “Tell me the nature of heaven and hell”

Then Zen master looks him in the face and says, “Why should I tell a scruffy, disgusting, miserable slob like you? A worm like you, do you think I should tell you anything?”

Consumed by rage, the samurai draws his sword and raises it to cut off the master’s head.

The Zen master says, “That’s hell”

Instantly, the samurai understands that he has just created his own hell – black and hot, filled with hatred, self-protection, anger, and resentment. He sees that he was so deep in hell that he was ready to kill someone.

Tears fill his eyes as he puts his palms together to bow in gratitude for this insight.

Then Zen master says, “That’s heaven.”

“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, or you wouldn’t have come here.”

Daring Canadian photographer Tom Ryaboi snaps the Toronto skyline from the top of skyscrapers. He is one of the pioneers of “rooftopping”, which sees rooftoppers scale tall buildings to take pictures of the streets below.
To snap these breathtaking photographs, he often has to evade security guards, dogs and even urban falcons defending their nests.

The annual Tarragona human tower competition – in pictures.
The 24th annual castells competition took place in Tarragona, Spain. Castells, a Catalan tradition believed to date back to the 18th century, are human towers of up to 10 “people-storeys” high, usually with a small child placed at the top. Each year several hundred people fill the streets to witness the towering achievement.

The Garden of Diana

DianaIn Roman mythology, Diana was the goddess of the hunt, the moon and birthing, being associated with wild animals and woodland, and having the power to talk to and control animals.

Diana was known to be the virgin goddess of childbirth and women. She was one of the three maiden goddesses, Diana, Minerva and Vesta, who swore never to marry.

w

Oak groves were especially sacred to her. Diana was born with her twin brother Apollo on the island of Delos, daughter of Jupiter and Latona.

Sebastião Salgado

Sebastiao Salgado is one of my favorite photographers and Master of photography. He was born in the state of Minas Gerais, BRAZIL. He has traveled in over 100 countries for his photographic projects. Salgado has been awarded numerous major photographic prizes in recognition of his accomplishments.

Working entirely in a black-and-white format,  Salgado’s respect for his subjects and his determination to draw out the larger meaning of what is happening to them, has created an imagery that testifies to the fundamental dignity of all humanity while simultaneously protesting its violation by war, poverty and other injustices.

“I don’t want anyone to appreciate the light or the palette of tones. I want my pictures to inform, to provoke discussion – and to raise money. -”              Sebastião Salgado

This is a portrait of a poor woman who is sad and hungry. The composition of the photograph is very close and tight. Apparently, Salgado waited for the lady to show her depress expression to show the audience the actual feeling at this moment.

Animal’s Portraits

I am a true lover of animals. These are some of my animal’s portraits.

Searching for answers

“There is a story of a woman running away from tigers. She runs and runs and the tigers are getting closer and closer. When she comes to the edge of a cliff, she sees some vines there, so she climbs down and holds on to the vines.

Looking down, she sees that there are tigers below her as well. She then notices that a mouse is gnawing away at the vine to which she is clinging. She also sees a beautiful little bunch of strawberries close to her, growing out of a clump of grass. She looks up and she looks down. She looks at the mouse.

Then she just takes a strawberry, puts it in her mouth, and enjoys it thoroughly. Tigers above, tigers below. This is actually the predicament that we are always in, in terms of our birth and death.

Each moment is just what it is. It might be the only moment of our life; it might be the only strawberry we’ll ever eat.

We could get depressed about it, or we could finally appreciate it and delight in the preciousness of every single moment of our life.”

Rodney Smith is one of my favorite photographers, his work is magical, surreal and funny. I adore his symbolic work and how he uses the natural light creating a magic world like being in wonderland.

Emma, my rescue dog

Emma is my dog. She is a rescue dog. This adorable, tiny and delicate creature  was found in the street.
She was adopted by us in one Shelter in San Jose – California.

It is very fulfilling to save a life and watch it blossom and flourish with love, care, appreciation, and respect.

She is a bag of bones, 5 pounds of life..2 kg. of life

The Top 5 Benefits of Adopting a Pet

1.- You’ll save a life

2.- You’ll save money

3.- You’ll receive a healthy pet (pets from shelters and adoption agencies are almost always spayed or neutered, and have received their vaccinations as well and free food for your home)

4.-  You won’t be supporting puppy mills Many pets that are sold in pet stores or newspaper ads sometimes come from puppy mills. Puppy mills are mass dog-breeding businesses that are harmful to the health of their bred puppies.

5.- You’ll have a large selection because pet adoption agencies and animal shelters have many pets, there is a wide selection for you to choose from.

Becoming Vegan

I want to demonstrate my compassion for animals, caring for the environment and take care of myself.

I just stopped eating animals, I can’t take it any more. I watched one documentary called “Vegucated”.  This film can change your life in so many positive ways; it’s truly a must-see. My entire way of thinking about the food has changed.

I can’t ignore the inhumane treatment of animals that are born into this world for the purpose of being raised, slaughtered, and sold as food for human consumption,

I never liked meat. I can eat a lot of products without contributing to the slaughter of our animals.

Please be compassionate, kind and open your eyes..

“Sutro Baths * The beauty of my neighborhood”

One of my dreams was always live near the sea, the  fate brought me here, I  would have never imagined to live close to this beauty of place…This is my neighborhood, I live near Sutro Baths and Lands End…These are photos that I have taken over a year.

Walking with the mist..

I was always  fascinated with this natural phenomenon, the mist. “Walking with the mist”  is something very special for me, it’s energy and enlightenment. Last Saturday I was visiting Point Reyes Lighthouse in Marin County (California), looking for the popular spot where John Carpenter filmed the movie “The Fog”. This place is not of this earth, it’s magical and mysterious. Moreover its surrounded with  an  interesting geologic rock formation.  The lighthouse was built  on the edge of the  world. It’s just incredible place to visit and take wonderful pictures. Here some of them. I hope you enjoy it !!
